The International Esports Federation (IESF) will hold its 15th General Assembly (GA) during the upcoming World Esports Championships Finals in Bali, Indonesia, on December 6, 2022. At the GA, IESF will hold its presidential election and board member elections for the next three-year term.
Current IESF President Vlad Marinescu will run against standing-elected board member HH Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifah Al-Nahyan. Marinescu stepped into the role of President in 2019 and was re-elected in December 2020. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifah Al-Nahyan was elected as an IESF Board Member in 2019 and is looking to expand his responsibilities to President.
At the OGM, 110 national federations delegates will be present to democratically vote for the elections of president, board members as well as all motions proposed from the national federations – IESF being the only international federation for esports confirming principles of good governance and transparency. The IESF Board currently consists of 19 members from 19 nations.
IESF recently concluded the regional qualifiers for the long-awaited WE Championships Finals, with the remaining nations set to compete in a play-in round for a last chance to qualify. This year’s Finals are expected to be the most geographically diverse edition yet, with 600 athletes representing 106 nations competing for a record prize pool of $500,000.
