Students from NYU’s Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport visit IESF Headquarters

In an adventurous Global Field Intensive, twelve students from the Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport visited two of the biggest cities in South Korea from January 10 to January 20, 2024. Their destination: the Esports haven of Seoul and the coastal gaming hub of Busan.

The NYU SPS Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport prepares individuals from around the world for careers in the sports industry. Programs address all facets of the field, the impact of the sports economy, and global sports management to Esports and digital sports media. The undergraduate sports management degree and graduate sports business degrees explore in-demand areas while promoting the transformative power of sports. Students gain an exceptional NYU education and build their network in NYC.

Why specifically South Korea?

South Korea, a global leader in competitive gaming, became the go-to destination for an exciting journey into the world of sports, technology, and entertainment. The students are getting a closer look into the vibrant Esports ecosystem, attending workshops, exploring state-of-the-art gaming facilities, and engaging with industry experts.

During this fruitful trip, on January 17th, students from the Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport were granted a unique opportunity to explore the International Esports Federation (IESF) Headquarters in Busan.

This visit offered an insider’s look into the epicenter of global Esports governance, where students gained valuable insights into the organizational dynamics, strategic initiatives, and the pivotal role played by IESF in shaping the future of competitive gaming on the international stage. The experience at IESF Headquarters added a layer of depth to their understanding of Esports, highlighting the global collaboration and innovation driving this rapidly evolving industry.

The IESF Team stated:

“At IESF, our doors are always open, and we encourage students from all over the world to visit us and give us an opportunity to show them our cutting-edge projects, engage with our team, introduce them to true passionate professionals in the Esports industry and witness the innovation in action. Visiting our Headquarters can help everybody, especially young students understand the depths of International competitive gaming, the growth of the Esports ecosystem, and the challenges of making this organization the home of Esports.“
