ATHLETE'S LIABILITY

WHAT IS ATHLETE'S LIABILITY?

That is the responsibility of athletes towards the consumption of substances at any time.

The Athlete’s Liability states that it’s each Athlete’s personal duty to ensure that no Prohibited Substance enters his or her body. Athletes are responsible for any Prohibited Substance or its Metabolites or Markers found to be present in their bodily Specimens.

Under the strict liability principle, an anti-doping rule violation occurs whenever a Prohibited Substance is found in an Athlete’s bodily Specimen. The violation occurs whether or not the Athlete intentionally or unintentionally used a Prohibited Substance or was negligent or otherwise at fault.

Regardless of the origin, athletes are always responsible for the substances they intake.

Consequences to teams: If one or two athletes have been notified for possible violation or have been found to commit an anti-doping violation, the whole team may be subject to Target Testing or Disqualification.
