WCG, the world-wide biggest game competition and festival begun in Korea hold a 10th grand final from coming 30th in LA in the USA. The footsteps of WCG which is improving in 10 years from the beginning in 2000 are joyful facts but international e-sports are facing the turbulence that the big competitions such as CPL, CGS, WSVG and ESWC are being stopped or getting reduction in size.
It this movement, the starting of IeSF is really noticeable. Currently, the IeSF, declaring the Olympics of e-sports, was started by associations recognized by governments while the companies or private associations’ competitions are being stopped. This could be the steppingstone that e-sports which is in crisis would get admitted by international society
E-spots are being paid attention by intentional society about the ripple effects in the industrial and cultural aspects while the so-called big competitions are getting smaller. The accomplishment can be showed from the fact that e-sports in China has been promoted as 76th regular event from 99th and the Olympic Council of Asia designated the e-sports as regular event in the 2nd Aisia indoor sports competitions.
IeSF is welcomed by the interested parties because they could maintain the regular exchange within IeSF, the gatherings of e-sports associations led by the private parties recognized by government, while there is a crisis that most e-sports competitions are being stopped by lack of operating fund and expansion of the base. IeSF prepares for a stepping stone of stable and systematic fostering tools.
What is more, IeSF is leading Korea’s position reinforcement which is so called e-sports birthplace among international e-sports associations or standardization of e-sports sponsored by the government in the beginning level. In other words, it could go into the mainly leading position which is spreading e-sports world-widely.
With all above facts, it would also cooperate with other international competitions such as WCG so its growth potential is infinite. As said before, the private sector leading competitions can be stopped or directly faced a continuing crisis when it comes to an outburst of financial depression. On the other hand, IeSF supplements the flaw which regular private sector has because it can maintain stable growth sponsored by the government. Surely, it could also create the new standard of e-sports if it absorbs or mutually complements the advantages of other competitions.
IeSF , led by Korea, is now playing a role of e-sports’ international standardization and the status of Korea would be higher when its members are getting increasing. So, the way of IeSF which guides globalization of e-sports is more noticeable in the future.
