[E-Sports] IeSF Secretary General WS, Oh, like e-sports Taekwando

WS, Oh, the secretary general of the International e-Sports Federation, declared its 2010 plan at the press conference dated February 11, 2010.

Secretary General Oh was pleased to assess as “A Half-Victory” the first event of IeSF Challenge held in Taebaek, Gangwon-do in 2009, adding, “We hope to throw a host city festival in some venues such as Seoul, Geonggi, Busan, etc.” Mr. Oh revealed, “We are looking for a city that is full of the concept of a host city. A city capable of holding the event with a pride as a local festival will be designated.”

He underlined that standardization of e-sports and hosting members, one of the purposes of the IeSF, would be focused while making the process of the festival.

In addition, he presented its plan to increase the members from 15 to 20 and settle down as ‘standardization by habit’ by making a continuous improvement of the standard protocol for the international competition and submitting it to the members. China, the United States of America, Japan, etc. are being considered as additional e-sports core members of IeSF for the future.

IeSF was established in 2009 based on the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, aiming at the exchange of the rapidly increasing international e-sport competitions and the overseas e-sports related associations and the standardization of the international competitions. At the moment, the federation is striving for attracting members, exchanging with the overseas e-sports organizations, standardizing the international e-sports competitions, and taking care of e-sports talents, etc.

He also said, “What Korea is now leading in the current international sports association, is Taekwondo only,” adding, “There are problems to be settled down but IeSF will try to make Korea take an initiative in e-sports from 2010.”
