The International e-Sports Competition, '2009 IeSF Challenge', Began

2009 IeSF hosted by International e-Sports Federation(IeSF) and Korea Creative Content Agency will be held for 5 days until Dec. 14th as the internationally first competition of country-to-country match tournaments.
128 players from 20 countries including U.S.A, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, China, Japan, India, South Africa, etc., will participate in 2009 IeSF Challenge, the world first international competition, for the 1st standing of three games, Warcraft3, FIFA Online 2, and AVA.
Especially, international players won from many international competitions such as 2009 Asian WCG will compete with domestic players passing through tights qualifying matches such as JaeYoung Jung, JooYoung Jung, HyungJoo Lee, and DooSup Jang.
Also, ‘IeSF Star Invitational Classic’ in Dec. 12th which is the Starcraft finals of JinHo Hong and YunYeol Lee called as ‘returning Legend’ will seem to catch the international e-sports fans’ attentions.

With a beginning of a presentation for the international standards, which has been developed, related to the judge committee, IeSF will open a general meeting during the challenge and proceed various events which stand up the status of Korea as the origin state of the e-sports including expanding communication between member countries, strengthening cooperation, discussing the beginning of the Olympic game, and so on.
9 countries including Germany, Austria, Belgium, and Switzerland join in membership of IeSF established and led by Korea in the last year, and 5 more countries such as UK, Spain, and South Africa will be IeSF’s new members.
IeSF will develop IeSF Challenge into the e-sports Olympic by holding the international competition every year.

Wonseok Oh, a secretary-general of IeSF, said, “(we will) lay the foundation of growing (IeSF) as the world authoritative organization like IOC or FIFA by increasing e-sports global competitiveness and influence of the federation through IeSF Challenge”.
Thus, Taebaek City makes a scheme to be ‘the origin of the e-sports Olympic’ by building a monument for the world first international competition, IeSF Challenge, and making history through lightening the Flame and the trophy.
SooHwang Lee, the head of business strategy department in Taekbaek City, said, “if IeSF Challenge develops to be the Olympic game, Taebaek City will build Entertainment-City(E-City) which has themes of game and animation so that the city can stand up as the city of international e-sports”.

In other words, Taebaek City holds various e-sports events including selecting members of national team, national amateaur competition, etc., from 2007 since High 1 resort is in the progress of building E-City on 100million m2 size of land with total expense 346.1million won until 2020.
