- Founding of the IOC-like ‘International e-Sports Federation’ – Established to open one competition every year by signing the agreement Another full sail has headed for the sea called one single e-Sports. World wide e-Sports associations have come together under the name of IOC-like(International Olympics Committee) to manage and operate e-Sports based on international standards. On 11th at Busan Nurimaru APEC House, an agreement took place for founding the world’s first e-Sports international organization called ‘International e-Sports Federation(IeSF)’ 9 membership countries including South Korea, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Chinese Taipei, and Vietnam have signed a MOU. As founding membership countries of IeSF, these countries will open a founding general meeting in November to officially establish IeSF, and starting with the invitation competition, it will hold one competition every year. The IeSF has its founding history based on common grounds that an international e-Sports body was needed. This idea was found by world’s e-Sports officials attending at the International e-Sports Symposium which is held every year since 2006, sponsored by Korea e-Sports Association. IeSF will once again systemize e-Sports through setting international standards for players, provisions, competitions, entries, and exchanging information with entry developers and other competition related institutions. South Korea which led the foundation of IeSF has now consolidated its stance as the homeland of e-Sports. Korea e-Sports Association chairman Kim Shin-bae(SK telecom, president) said “It is delightful to officially announce the foundation of IeSF for digital Olympics of intelligence and information society, collaborating with international e-Sports leaders at Busan Nurimaru where APEC leaders once met here. I will pull up my shoulders and lead IeSF’s efficient operations.”
