Colosseum Sports Tech Serbia is unique five-month program aimed to boost innovation in sport. Program is designed for early-stage start-ups that work on development of innovative and new solutions in sports industry in the following areas: development of athletes, esports, gaming, gadgets that athletes use and wear, and many more. Start-ups must have at least two members and a validated prototype or idea that they want to turn into a successful business.
Main subject of discussion of the summit was enhancing performance of athletes under the influence of the technology, using virtual reality(VR), gaming and esports. Esports was especially interasting subject because it gathers more than 320 milion viewers worldwide every year. The representatives of the Serbian e-Sport Association, as well as members of the leading organizations in this region, spoke highly about the potential of esports.
Some of the participants of the Colosseum Sports Tech Serbia are former volleyball, Olympic champion, Vanja Grbić, volleyball player and founder of KidCard Ivana Djerisilo, Nenad Marković, coach of the Serbian esports team, and many more.
Representative of the Serbian e-Sports Association at this panel was Nenad Markovic, who was discussing the possibility that esports one day may become part of traditional sports. He compared professional esport players with traditional athletes, and talked about the likelihood that perhaps one day professional esport players may get the same recognition and praise as traditional athletes. Together with Nenad, at the same Gaming & esports panel karate athleete and CEO of Miracle Dojo, Uros Mijalković and karate athlete Slobodan Bitević talked about the samo ideas. The two have compared traditional martial arts with a genre of fighting video games, such as Tekken 7, which is on the IeSF World Cup Games list, on which Serbia will have its representative at the end of 2019.
