Personally, I rather agree with the quote that everyone has own destiny. In middle of 80’s, since I started my career, I have mingled a lot of countries as people would say that I have itchy feet. Of course, since they were mostly business trips, they have never been nice and easy one to me. That might be the reason that I string my nerves when I think of going abroad.
The tears dropped for becoming sidekick of Japanese company at the businesses in China and India, the night starved at a shabby inn in Paris for having my pocket picked, overnight at president’s palace in Bulgaria that was such wonderful experience, and so on. All these experiences have raised me up from the young and ambitious youth of twenty to the old salt at midlife. Carrying on my destiny as ever, I am still roaming the world with the item of ‘e-Sports’.
Here, the issue that I would like to think about is the subtle feelings from certain countries regardless of the passing of time, and how we can persuade these countries better to join our missionaries.
International e-Sports Federation (IeSF) is found with the lead of Korea, and extending its leverage to other countries. By the way, as looking into the composition of IeSF’s member nations, the number of European countries is absolutely dominant. Then, why? It could be the leap of logic, but mostly European countries tend to look directly through the phenomena and evaluate practically. They are also used to the competitions in good faith. Thus, they are more likely in sympathy with the general trend. Also, they tend to draw boarder countries and friendly nations to the general trend. This might be the basic cause how we have invited dominant number of European nations.
However, some countries have shown prejudice and stinginess of cooperation. Sometimes, some other countries have expressed jealousy on the fact that a country is leading the table. Regardless of general trend, it shows that there are still many of countries seek for immediate benefit financially and politically. I rather say that this is the old convention to break. Why is it always hard to agree with well-intentioned proposal for some countries? It might be an insoluble issue with invisible competitive envy.
?
Therefore, we may have to rather show them the action first than to convince with words. We need to prove it with making up the successful examples. So, they can spontaneously follow the trend at last. It might take plenty of time and effort. However, one thing that we should remember is continuous conversation with open-mind leads us to other’s tribute from the bottom of the heart.
It has been the homework for IeSF to attract more nations and major notion such as Japan into its membership boundary. Also, it is crucial to develop member nations in Oceania and America. To make this mission happen, we need certain strategies.
?
e-Sports Standardization is essential task for right now, and will be our future competency. However, in fact, we are short of time and resources. The only solution for right now is setting the priorities on policies, and having all relevant stakeholders to add their supportive hands. There are two devices which may allow us to achieve it effectively: one is establishment of e-sports global ranking system and vitalization of online A-matches. Of course, it is hard to expect the result or response from the beginning. However, it is essential assignment to lead the table to the direction that we are all dreaming.
As the 4 commandments of survival for venture business says, we need to satisfy ‘be the first’, ‘be the unique’, ‘be the profitability’, and ‘be the best’. Plus, we need active and spontaneous collaboration of our respectful member nations to make this mission come true.
