French Federation of Video Games – IESF’s Member Nation

To succeed in our mission to create a united World Esport we need really big support and the biggest support we get is from our 111 Member nations, national federations from all around the world!

It’s really important to show you who are our Member Nations!

Today we are presenting the French Federation of Video Games!

When did you founded the federation?

The French Federation of Video Games (in French FFJV) was founded by my predecessor, Franck Fontaine and a few other people in March 2013, the 1st. At beginning, the FFJV was found to make some leagues in virtual soccer, Moba and simRacing and help the french teams to contact collectivities and work together about the Esport Democracy.

Which games are most played in your country?

In 2020, the most played game in France is FIFA21. Animal Crossing: the new horizon is a much played game too. But if we talk about Esport, some games are really T1 like Fortnite, Leagues of Legend or Rocket League. French players are really attached to virtual soccer games. Few years ago, Pro Evolution Soccer was the most played Game but I think that Konami didn’t manage their game enough to keep the first place.

In which games/Esports do you have a representation?

The FFJV is a group of more than 25 teams. But in France you can find more than a thousand teams. Lot of them played only one game and others played more.
We can’t exactly answer this question because France is represented in each Esport game that we can find. We’ve got serious players in StarCraft 2, FIFA, PES, Counter Strike, Dota 2, Hearthstone and Magic Arena… But you can find very good teams in Rocket League, R6 and Call of Duty.

Lot of French teams played in the most important competition around the world but you’ve got a very high difference between professional teams like Vitality, PSG… and the amateur teams.

What is the average age of the players in the national team?

Our national team is composed only for the IESF Masters. Ages are very different because of our youngest CSGO player who is 18 years old and the oldest player is our PES player Ira who is 36.

How would you describe in one word the state of Esports in your country?

In France Esport is very difficult. We have a lot of teams, lot of players but we don’t have enough rules to manage them. We’re waiting for some rules and laws that will be available in 2022.

How has the establishment of the federation helped Esports in your country?

The Federation is helping teams to have good management. We’re giving some training to the team’s directors and we are teaching the good use of video games to children while preventing the addiction from video games. Each thing is necessary to have a good Esport and our job is helping France to have a healthy Esport.

What are your future plans for the federation?

You know, in 2024 we’ll have the Olympics in Paris. We would like to make an Esport achievement like the WC of IESF. We think that we need Esport during or just after the Olympics games. Some people say Esport is not a Sport but in Esport, players have the same training : Coaches, time of game, analytics, doctors, ambition etc.

Competition is very important and for us, sport = competition.

What is your federation’s biggest achievement?

This year, our national Finals cup on Magic Arena and Teamfight Tactics took place in a small arena in Paris. More than a thousand people saw that on Stream. The two games are not T1. Next Year we’ll be present more often in festivals and meetings and we’ll have more discussion with the government. We think that our Federation can help IESF to be the strongest and the only real Esport federation around the world.
