The Global Esports Executive Summit is back with new content, updated branding and a refreshing, inclusive and modern format that allows online participation.
As IESF continues to charge forward with its plans to bring Esports to the forefront of the sports world, the ability to adapt has been key in these challenging times. Earlier this summer, IESF announced changes to its Esports World Championship that expand the competition to include online preliminary stages. The move promises to expand participation and viewership for IESF’s flagship competition. As IESF pursues it’s vision for a connected competitive world, it believes that these adaptations will lead to permanent improvements for the future. IESF’s flagship professional conference, GEES, is no different.
IESF is excited to announce that this year’s GEES will be a hybrid online/offline event. While international travel restrictions make it impossible to welcome international delegates, Korea’s success in controlling the virus allows for moderators and delegates to participate in a live, offline event in Busan, South Korea.
The official venue for GEES 2020 will be the brand new Busan Esports Stadium (currently under construction). Special plans are being made to allow international delegates to participate and contribute online, including lectures and presentations and onscreen at the official venue. IESF hopes that these adaptations will lead to increased participation, and lay the groundwork for improvements that can be used far into the future.
Since 2016, GEES has gathered key Esports stakeholders to create an environment for discussion, education, and action for Esports development through conferences, exhibitions, academic lectures, and networking events. After three consecutive years (2017-2019) of being hosted in Busan, South Korea, GEES seems to have found a home, with the latest edition being and GEES 2019 was the biggest and best yet. For three days, over 200 Esports and sports stakeholders gathered to discuss the most pressing Esports issues of the day. IESF is confident that, even as we are forced to adapt to the realities of COVID-19, GEES 2020 will be even better.
IESF will announce the agenda, speaker list and exact dates of the event, including links for participation, in the upcoming weeks.
