NWU offers a bursary to the winners of the school league.

North-West University offers a bursary to the winners of the school league.

North West University has had a long and fruitful association with Mind Sports South Africa.

Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) began its Online School League back in 2010. The league had small beginnings with only three schools making up the initial league.

However, from small acorns, mighty oaks do grow.

MSSA now has over 60 school clubs affiliated to it, and the league is attracting greater interest from every quarter than ever before.

North-West University (NWU) has seen the opportunities presented by esports to reach prospective students nationally. By becoming the national headline sponsor the NWU sees this as an opportunity to give back to the school sector which support the University with well-rounded students.

In MSSA’s opinion, there is no doubt that esports athletes are brighter than average and more in tune with the technological demands of today’s digital society.

The Online School League will thus, henceforth be known as the NWU MSSA Online School League.

The sponsorship comes with very real benefits.

For the first time ever, the Online League (NWU MSSA Online School League) offers prizes other than just the medals and provincial colours. The prizes include:
– A R30,000.00 Bursary for the winner of the StreetFighter V esports title, and
– R10,000.00 Prize money for the School for the winner of the Paladins esports title, and
– R10,000.00 Prize money for the School for the winner of the DotA 2 esports title
