The Cup of Russia is first was held by Russian eSports Federation in 2004. After the official recognition it’s been conducted annually. 2018 is the first year when the event is open for players from other countries. Hence, athletes from 7 countries reached the final stage: Russia, Serbia, Croatia, China, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine (of total 10 which also includes Denmark, Norway and Germany).

Several large cities bade for the cup. In Tyumen we found a venue capable to receive a large number of spectators and having the necessary infrastructure. Besides, the support from the regional government played a big role, – said Dmitry Smith, the RESF’s president at the press –conference dedicated to the Cup.
This is my first time in Russia. I was a little surprised by the Tyumen cold, but I really liked the snow, here it is very beautiful. Against the backdrop of cold weather, the warmth with which I was received was especially pleasant. In Tyumen, everything is at the highest level. Special thanks to the public for the support, which helped me a lot. I spent here an unforgettable time and will definitely come again, – says Huang Min, the Chinese StarCraft II player.
The event’s big success lets Russian eSports Federation look confidently into the year 2019, in which, along with regional competitions and the Championship of Russia, RESF plans:
– dispatching players to the World Championship (last quarter of 2019),
as well as holding two great events open for international participation:
– Epicenter – Dota 2, June 2019;
– the Cup of Russia (Russia Open) – multi-title, December 2019.
