‘2009 IeSF Challenge’ hosted by IeSF and Korea Creative Content Agency, supervised by TaeBaek City, sponsored by Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Gangwond-do, SK Telecom, and High 1 Resort will be held for 5 days from Dec. 10th to Dec. 14th, 2009, in O2 Resort in Taebaek City, Gangwond-do.
The events for the competition which 150 players from 20 membership countries will participate in are three official events including ‘Warcraft3 (individual match)’ and ‘FIFA Online 2(individual match)’, and ‘A.V.A(team standing)’ for an example event. Both internationally and domestically Well-known players will have tight matches by staking players’ names on each matches.
The competition schedule is that FIFA Online 2 matches for members of Korean national team and IeSF group drawing will be held in Dec. 6th(Sun.) and 9th(Wed.), and the final rounds will begin from opening ceremony in Dec. 11th(Fri.) after welcome-party in Dec. 10th(Thu.). In the opening ceremony, ShinBae Kim, a chairman of IeSF, JongGi Park, Mayor of Taebaek City, and the representatives from Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and Korea Creative Content Agency will attend and various congratulatory performances will be done by Korean hot pop star 4 Minute and B-boy team.
Players from 20 countries will challenge glorious title, the 1st standing of the 1st IeSF Challenge, through the finals in 1pm, Dec. 13th(Sun.), 2009 through qualifying rounds and final rounds progressed in Dec. 11th(Fri.) and 12th(Sat.).
In the general meeting of IeSF during the Challenge, there will be a presentation of new membership approval and international e-sports standardization, and IeSF has plans for 2010 IeSF business strategy and for gathering more memberships to establish the global e-sports.
Beside, from this year, the IeSF Challenge will be held every year in order to be the Olympic in the e-sports field and, for stamping the base of IeSF and IeSF Challenge, if holding the challenge in Korea for the next 2-3years will be discussed.
Wonseok Oh, a secretary-general of IeSF, said, “(we will) lay the foundation of growing (IeSF) as the world authoritative organization like IOC or FIFA by increasing e-sports global competitiveness and influence of the federation through IeSF Challenge” and “with such efforts, (we) will provide full of supports to acquire the official approvals of the member nations”.
Besides, with the invitational tournament of Starcraft progamers in Dec. 12th, various events like fun game events, costume play and photo time, and guess-the 1st place country for the competition will come up. In the outdoors of O2 Resort for the competition, the snow-ice sculpture theme park, ‘Snow Festival Field’, will be prepared for giving full of pleasures to visitors.
Addtionally, Taebaek City will build a huge size of IeSF monument for celebrating the first IeSF Challenge event so they will have a commencement ceremony during the event.
